On Wednesday March 8th, 2017 CMHDS Members toured the Grand & Toy Distribution Centre. Located in South Burnaby, the facility distributes the latest technology, furniture and everyday office supplies throughout Western Canada.
Tour highlights included a number of current industry hot topics including:
- Near 100% recycling resulting in garbage pickup only once per year
- How management kept associates continually updated during recent mergers and company changes
- The facility’s recent conversion to LED lighting
Attendees also learned how the facility maintained deliveries when a 2016 fire closed the warehouse for two weeks. In addition, attendees saw first-hand how Grand & Toy’s focus on quality, safety and workplace organization has made the facility an ideal location for film and television productions such as ‘Timeless’ and ‘The Good Wife’.
