On Wednesday April 4th, 2012 CMHDS Members toured the new E.B. Horsman distribution facility in Surrey, BC.
Long time CMHDS member and past director, Roy Bragg (E.B. Horsman’s Vice President of Operations), hosted members on a tour of their new facility which serves 17 locations throughout the province. The company is committed to continual improvement and items of particular interest to members were:
- Fast “opportunity” charge system used to rapidly recharge forklift batteries while minimizing battery changes and reducing power consumption.
- State of the art lighting system
- Elimination of the year-end physical count after Cycle Count Implementation ($15k savings a year).
- Small parcel receiving productivity gain of 110% after receiving cart process changes ($40k labor savings per year).
